The Knit Knacks

Monica Russel, trading as 'The Knit Knacks', designs and supplies knitting kits and patterns. Monica has seven books with her knitting patterns and her designs regularly feature in knitting magazines – Let’s Knit, Simply Knitting and Knit Now. Monica has also created several designs for Roosters yarn, UK Alpaca and Jamiesons Yarn.

The Knit Knacks was started in 2010 when Monica designed her first tea cosy. She had always knitted but the design element was new to her. 

Coming from a teaching background she decided to use her experience to run workshops and teach knitting to everyone from the novice to people who want to develop their skills.

Stocking natural fibre yarns and focusing on British wools (which can be bought online or at the many events Monica attends throughout the year) they are used to make up her knitting kits for hats, scarves, headbands, fingerless gloves and boot cuffs. 

Her designs have been featured in Let's Knit, Simply Knitting, Knit Now, Mollie Makes, The People's Friend and on a number of internet sites and she was approached by Search Press to design patterns on boot cuffs and hugs for a book in 'The 20 to Make' Series, five other knitting pattern books and of late 'The Ultimate guide to Fair Isle'.
