The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal 2017

This year marks the 100th anniversary of Battle of Passchendaele, which took place on the Western Front, from July to November 1917. For the town of Hitchin, this was the year of greatest loss. Almost one third of the Hitchin men who were killed between 1914 - 1919, lost their lives in 1917.

Festiwool, in co-operation with Hitchin Stitchin' has created an exhibit that remembers each of the 99 men who lost their lives in 1917.

There will be hand-made poppy brooches for sale, alongside items from the Royal British Legion. All monies donated will go to the Poppy Appeal, 2017
